euphoric1ParticipantExciting weekend coming up for me, taking 2 of my grandkids boating and fishing for the first time, first time they will have been on a boat and fishing… well catching I hope anyways. Actually will be first time taking them up north to our place, show them the outdoors for a change, will be their first stay away from home as well. Got the new registration stickers on, gas drained and carburetors cleaned, batteries on charge. Not quite sure who is more excited… Grandpa or grandkids LOL!! will have some pictures to post on Monday with hopefully some smiles for miles!!!

Minnesota KellyParticipantAwesome! She won’t make it up this year, as she gave birth to our first great granddaughter but one of the true joys in life has been to take her fishing. She is crazy about fishing and a natural at it. More often than not, she puts more fish in the well than me.

euphoric1ParticipantHA!! know exactly what you are saying “she puts more fish in well than me” had same experience with my son growing up! I am so excited about this! and hope it will be the start of something good, that they will want to continue and realize the outdoors are way more fun than playing on the phone or tablet LOL!

Paul ClarkParticipantThe little guy will be coming up in a few days for the July 4th week. He wants to go fishing with his Dada and his Pops. He is 2 and 3 months now so I just want to have him catch a panfish or maybe a bass. Should be fun!
Hope you all have a safe and happy July 4th!

euphoric1ParticipantHonestly I’m not sure who is more excited about the weekend, me or them LOL!! I have 3 grandkids, the 2 we are taking are 5 & 6 (long story as to why this is first time) Only worry I have is they will be wanting to come up every weekend now LOL!! Got boat out of uncles building this morning, all set. Fishing in the morning, swimming, mini golf at Tom & Jerrys in Plymouth, dinner over the fire, finish with ice cream at Gesserts in Elkhart. should have no trouble getting them to fall asleep LOL!!! is it 5 o’clock yet??? LOL

euphoric1ParticipantGot out on boat, first time this year, first time ever for grandkids, was a little worried but went well, grandson whimpering a bit about going fast but once we were able to.. fast wasnt fast enough LOL. Got some gills, I caught a few slabs. Worst fishing invention ever… Zebco closed end reels uuuugh, spent more time untangling, undoing lines wrapped around poles, making sure wife and I weren’t going to get hooked LOL. Granddaughter was vision fishing getting little ones but thats ok, she was ecstatic just catching something, All in all was a fun day on the lake, look forward to doing it again, posted pictures under pictures page

Minnesota KellyParticipantThis is really cool. The kids got out in the boat and even caught fish! Bluegills and Sunnies are a great way to introduce kids to fishing. Hungry little critters. Hats off to you for managing the little herd with all that going on.
I can relate to the Zebco. Was out fishing with our son once and when he was reeling in a pretty good-sized Walleye, the cone on his 202 fell off. What a fiasco that was.
