The First Heat Wave of the Summer

Looking at the forecast for the last week of June and first week of July, I’m reminded of an old Arctic Cat print ad that showed a guy in Full Gear including his helmet, sitting in his Deep Freezer during the summer months. Looks like the first Heat Wave of the summer, mid 90’s for our area, humid too. Nothing too extreme, just a reminder on our part that when the earth takes her wobble toward the sun, it’s time to look for shade. My hat’s off to those that work outdoors, some say they get used to it, others have no choice and just suffer through it.
Experts (Doctors) tell us to drink plenty of fluids (pets too) get the outdoor heavy stuff done early in the day, take a break in the A.C. and other than that….what do you do to Beat the Heat?

I’m not a fan of that kind of heat. It is looking like the heat will begin Sunday & continue through Thursday of next week. Temps are expected to reach 90 by Tuesday with lows only at 70. The power grid is going to take a hit. The heat index is expected to hit 100, I hope this is a short lived heat wave & doesn’t spawn severe weather with the repressive heat, humidity & high dewpoint temps.🤞 Stay Cool.😎

Up here in the tundra, it looks like we will be spared the worst of it, maybe high temps in the 80’s. East of here though (as in SE Wisconsin), Wow! If the forecast holds, it’s gonna be ugly.

Hot and humid here but honestly it was nice before, low 70’s during the day and 50’s at night, and It was nice not having to run the air conditioning but…. I’m glad it finally feels like summer! Will feel refreshing jumping in the lake instead of dreading getting out in the cool weather. I just hope we are done with the roller coaster of temps! I’ll be dammed if I’m going to sit in house, summers here… ENJOY IT!!!

Awoke at 4:30 this am & it was still 79 degrees. We are in an Extreme Heat Warning today, high temp expected in the mid to upper 90’s with heat indices of 100 plus. It is miserable & suppose to stay like this through mid week. We still need rain badly despite the brief rain we had Saturday morning where we got a quick 3/4″, no where near enough to wet the ground good enough, just enough to jack up the humidity & dewpoint to uncomfortable levels. Stay cool & hydrated everyone.

Got in my truck on Saturday night and the thermometer read a cool 100 degrees. Granted,, it was sitting in the parking lot so it was a little inflated. It got down to 98 by the time I got home. Much better!

I don’t know which is worse, we haven’t really had the heat lately, but the humidity has been horrendous!!

A short FYI for everyone; Just back from some vacation time in Door County and saw the first trees turning color up there!
