PROGRAMMING NOTE: All Members
Greetings All! New Memberships have been piling up as we head into a new week of Snow Trails USA. My primary concern has been to get everyone registered ASAP and I think we’ve accomplis;hed that. Like yourself, I’ve been exploring the site, navigating new areas and features. One area I’d like to share today is going to make your life either more or less complicated, hopefully the latter. But promise not to shoot the messenger. OK?
Today, we’re going to focus on the Discussion Page, that’s what you’re looking at now. Just below the header above you’ll see a row of buttons labeled Home, Forum, Media, etc. We want to focus on “Forum”. By clicking on “Forum” you’ll navigate to a new page that allows for each Topic/Subject matter to be separate from the others. This may look similiar to other forums you’re familiar with. Going forward various subjects will be stand alone and easier to follow. An example; Your Heading may begin with “Today’s Snowfall Totals” followed by members from various locations posting their totals in a series of posts in chronilogical order. The difference being, in the General Discussions all postings accumulate with the most recent at the top. To follow the topic, you have to scroll down to the most recent. By using the Forum button, those posts are all in line and the most recent at the bottom.
So, going forward. General Discussions is the only Community that we’ll be usiing the Forum feature for now. A typical scenario would be if you catch up on Snow Trails with your morning coffee, you’ll go to General Discussions, scroll through the most recent posts and then click on the Forum Button at the top to see more of the current list of topics.
Let’s give it a try. I think it’ll help with navigation, organization, and offer a better experience for all concerned.Gary

This seems like it will give us the best of both worlds. I can see this being used a lot for things that generate frequent comments and are checked frequently. I don’t know that it will be a factor for most subjects, but the photo posting process works differently from the regular general discussion (uses a URL link rather than an upload). This is the same way the insert image worked on the old JD forum. I tried it tonight and couldn’t get it to work, just flashes and deletes the post. I don’t know a lot about HTML code but I did confirm that the code generated in the post by the “img” tab is structurally correct, so it should work. There shouldn’t be a size limitation , as it’s just a link. Could just be a minor bug or something I haven’t learned to do correctly.

Gary, so if I am understanding this correctly because I went to the “forum” section and found “2027 snowmobiles” and “hey you found us” I don’t see any specific forums (i.e. trail conditions, snowfall reports etc) and I just want to clarify if I am reading into this correctly. A member can create their own topic that people can post responses on just as in the discussion board is that correct? Thank you Gary
