My new rear bumper for the 2026 Kawasaki Ridge Platinum Ranch Edition. For some reason it didn’t come with one. Chose this heavy duty beast with LED lights in it. The bumper is a product of Extreme Metal Products-EMP. Thank you to Chad and his service department at M&M Powersports for their top notch service.

  Funny thing Kelly and Mezz, we have been having “super El Nino” year pounded into our minds lately yet when you look at other weather outlets they are too predicting the “super El Nino” but their prediction effects are all over the place, some doom and gloom and some are very hopeful. As I’ve said before they have a hard enough time with 24 hour forecasts, not holding my breath on anyone’s long term outlooks but fingers and toes crossed for a repeat of last year if not better! As Venturenorth would put it…. “We ride”

    You’re right, being pounded with the doom & gloom. Though I will say, after having been through the 2nd snowiest winter on record last year, I am not wanting a repeat performance. It is way too early to tell what this winter will bring despite the numerous model runs. One thing for certain is a very strong El Nino will be in play, it’s just a matter of where it will have it’s greatest affect. In my opinion, it could go either way for the Midwest, but, I am leaning more toward an average winter in the Midwest which is fine by me, I just don’t want another repeat of last year

      Mezz, kinda selfish or me I do apologize, I couldn’t even imagine what it must be like residing there and I’m not going to lie but I don’t take that into consideration when I hope for a hell of a winter in the north woods as I am only thinking of the riding. I also plow snow here in my neck of the woods, been doing it for close to 30 years and there has been winters where I would go from work to plowing, back to work, back to plowing and I can remember a year I made more money plowing 2 weeks in december than I did working full time at my day job over the whole winter and I will tell you it was exhausting but….I’m sure in no way comparable to what you must deal with up there> When we stayed in Grand Marais last winter it snowed significantly almost every day, in fact one day we almost turned around as vision was almost zero. one morning while having breakfast I asked the business owner how they handle the snow removal and that the costs must be enormous. SO yeah, Mezz I do apologize as I do forget there are people who live in it when at this point I just want to ride in it. Down here when they call for lake effect snow its like armegeddon LOL! have closed schools ahead of a 4 top 6″ snow fall. I will never forget my first encounter with a Lake Superior lake effect snow event. rode from Gogebic to Big Bay, started snowing in L’anse and by time to Big Bay was snowing so heavily we scrapped the Michigamme loop and headed back the way we came, what were groomed trails heading there were literally trenches wide enough for one sled on way back. Never seen anything like it in my life at the time and when people panic about lake effect here I tell them…. they have no idea what lake effect snow is.

      No need to apologize, I hope you have a hell of a winter. As you know, your hell of a winter and ours here in the Keweenaw are 2 different animals. I can’t move like I use to & it is a challenge to deal with shoveling, blowing & plowing twice a day. The plowing is the easiest part but as you know, time consuming. I plow for myself & a couple of neighbors plus my Dad & my business, as such, I am not earning anything for it, just part of the routine here. I am by no means wanting a winter like 2023-24, I just don’t want to have a record or near record snowfall again, just enough to keep everyone happy. It will be interesting to see how this one pans out though. I sure miss John & his forecasting expertise, though I am reasonably sure he would say we will have equal chances of snow & cold vs lack of snow & warmer temperatures here in the Northwoods. We’ll see.
